With so much going on with our planet, in this world of chaos and confusion lets take a moment to consider the impact our swimwear choices have on the planet. The conventional swimwear industry is a major contributor to pollution and waste, with synthetic fabrics shedding microplastics into our oceans and landfills overflowing with discarded suits.

Seas the Day in Style: Cruise Stopover on Catalina Island

The salty breeze whips through your hair, the sun paints the ocean in shimmering turquoise, and a kaleidoscope of adventure awaits on Catalina Island. But for the savvy traveler (read : fashionista) like myself, a cruise stopover isn't just about ticking off destinations – it's a chance to curate a picture-perfect travel wardrobe that captures the essence of the moment. when the So, ditch the tired resort wear and dive into a world of nautical chic, seaside sophistication, and island vibes that'll have you turning heads from the moment you step off the ship. And of course you gotta match the scenery. This panorama? It demands an outfit to match

Setting Sail in Style:

  • Nautical stripes: Embracing the island's natural beauty with the timeless elegance of stripes in a stunning off shoulder jumpsuit in colors that match the scenery, & captures the island's vibrant spirit. Beautiful bold stripes in yellow, white, coral against the breathtaking backdrop of majestic mountain, sun-kissed beaches, vibrant coral reefs, and the crisp white cabanas. Alternatively, you could go for a more earthy vibe with stripes in olive green, ochre, and sand – mirroring the island's lush hills and dramatic rock formations.

  • Style: For a relaxed yet chic look, opt for a wide-leg culotte style jumpsuit with an off-the-shoulder neckline, like mine. This will flow beautifully in the island breeze and showcase your sun-kissed shoulders.  If you're looking for something more glamorous, choose a jumpsuit with a fitted bodice and a flowing skirt. Think Grecian goddess meets Hollywood starlet.

  • Fabric: Linen, silk, or a cotton-silk blend would be perfect for a lightweight and breathable option. These fabrics will keep you cool in the Californian sun and drape beautifully for a flattering silhouette.

  • Accessorizing:

    • Jewelry: I decided to keep it simple and let the jumpsuit stand out.
    • Shoes: I opted for boat shoes, they're comfortable and practical yet stylish enough
    • Hat: A wide-brimmed straw hat is a must-have for sun protection and instant island vibes. Choose one with a colorful ribbon or a playful pom-pom detail to tie in with your jumpsuit.
    • Sunglasses

Remember:

  • Comfort is key. You'll be doing a lot of walking and exploring, so choose an outfit that you can move and feel confident in. Don't be afraid to let your personality shine through! Catalina Island is a haven for laid-back vibes and effortless style. Choose  something that makes you feel fabulous and let your spirit reflect the island's carefree energy.

I hope this gives you some inspiration for creating the perfect island-inspired look! Have a wonderful time in Catalina!

Must visit in California: Point reyes (our very own Switzerland in California)

California's Crown Jewel: Unveiling the Enchantment of Point Reyes

Let's face it, California overflows with iconic destinations, each vying for the top spot on your travel bucket list. But sometimes, the most breathtaking treasures lie tucked away, waiting to be discovered. Such was the case with Point Reyes, a coastal paradise just a two-hour drive from the bustling streets of San Jose and my home.

For years, Point Reyes danced on the periphery of my radar, overshadowed by its glittering Californian cousins like Vegas, San Francisco, San Diego, Yosemite, Burney falls and the list goes on. But trust me, this hidden gem packs a punch that will leave you breathless. It's like stepping into a postcard come to life, a Swiss postcard, mind you, but with the warmth of Californian sunshine and the salty tang of the Pacific Ocean. Best time to visit is winters, when its not foggy so the view is clear.

OUTFIT DEETS:

With the weather being indecisive, I nailed my layering game with a thermal inner, under a knitted dress from target and Andrew Marc puffer jacket on top. The lighthouse is 300 steps one side, and the incline is very steep,&  it got very hot, I had to remove the inner thermal and the jacket but it was an easy fix. Later in the evening , at the beach, I wore my sports leggings as well. so yeah, its a good idea to pack layers while visiting this place.

Next Day : thermal layer for top and bottom, cute bell sleeves top from amazon and a striped pants
Night time : Borrowed from hubby coord set from target, aren't borrowed clothes the bestest?
Sunglasses : blue mirrored rayban borrowed from son :P😜

Point Reyes National Seashore unfolds like a painter's canvas, each brushstroke a testament to nature's artistry. Imagine rugged cliffs plunging into azure waters, windswept meadows dotted with wildflowers, and rolling hills draped in emerald pastures.  Hike through ancient forests where sunlight filters through towering redwoods, or climb weathered bluffs to watch whales breach in the distance. Kayak through tranquil bays teeming with marine life, or simply lay on the pristine beaches, listening to the symphony of waves crashing against the shore.

But Point Reyes isn't just a feast for the senses; it's a playground for the soul. Here, time slows down, inviting you to reconnect with yourself and the natural world. Breathe in the crisp air, feel the wind dance through your hair, and let the worries of the world melt away. Hike to the tip of Point Reyes Lighthouse, where the Pacific stretches out before you, vast and limitless. Watch the sunset paint the sky in fiery hues, and feel the magic of this place seep into your bones.

So, next time you find yourself caught in the Californian whirlwind, take a detour towards this coastal sanctuary. Point Reyes isn't just a destination; it's an experience, a reminder that the most exquisite wonders often hide in plain sight, waiting to be discovered by those who dare to venture beyond the beaten path. And who knows, perhaps you'll find yourself returning, again and again, drawn back to the charm of this California crown jewel.

Travel Tip: While Point Reyes might feel like a world away, it's easily accessible from San Jose. Rent a car and enjoy the scenic drive north, stopping at charming towns along the way. Pack your hiking boots, a camera, and your sense of adventure. And remember, sometimes the greatest journeys are the ones closest to home.
